About Us
Conveniently located in central Hamilton, Ontario, the Carlisle Retirement Residence is known for high-quality care provided in a safe, friendly and comfortable environment. The building (circa 1912) originally housed the Cathedral Girls School, and was converted to a retirement residence in 1990.
Among our many residents over the years, Lincoln Alexander, Canada’s first Black Canadian Member of Parliament, was the most famous. We have a special space dedicated in his honour, the Lincoln Alexander Atrium of Hope. This light-filled area attracts residents, their families and friends, who often gather and enjoy each other’s company in the peaceful surroundings.
